Florentine cuisine
The typical Florentine cuisine has its origins in simple and rural dishes, but despite this, it is counted among the best ones in Italy and in the world.
A typical starter consists of rabbit liver paté served on toast, while among the first courses, the most famous is a vegetable soup with stale bread, called Ribollita. Do not miss out on tasting the famous Florentine steak, or one of the first examples of street food: the Lampredotto sandwich. The typical Florentine sweet is called Castagnaccio and is made from chestnut flour.
Tuscany, around Florence
Tuscany is known all over the world for the beauty of its territory: the marvellous landscapes of the Chianti area, where hills and rows of vines alternate with cypress trees and ancient stone farmhouses, will capture your gaze and give you unforgettable memories.
Among the most beautiful towns to visit, worth a stop is Pisa, with its beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower. Or Siena, one of the loveliest medieval towns in Italy, where every alley oozes history and charm. But it is in Piazza del Campo, the real heart of the city with its unusual shell shape, where you can attend one of the most famous Sienese events: the Palio of Siena. Many tourists hasten to attend this equestrian event which is held twice a year, on the 2nd of July and on the 16th of August.
